About Tonya

“Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness.”

— Brené Brown

My Approach

I tend to work through the lens of feminist theory while utilizing CBT and DBT techniques.  The ways in which power dynamics impact our daily lives are an important part of how we see ourselves in the world and the ways in which we get stuck in certain patterns.  Raising these unhelpful patterns to our consciousness allows us to change the areas we are stuck.  I approach the therapeutic process as a partnership where we will work together to explore the ways you feel stuck and find new ways of being in life.

The "Other" Me

Outside of the therapy room I spend time partnering with my own people that help me learn myself better including my personal therapist, spiritual director, and yoga instructor.  I can often be found spending time with my favorites: my husband, two daughters, 3 rescue dogs, and 3 rescue cats.   I have the alter identity of cheer mom, but also love to travel, read, collect books, and spend time in nature.  I am an INFJ Meyers-Briggs, Enneagram 6, with a love language of Quality Time.
